Video to GIF
Convert a short video moment into a shareable animation for demonstrations or motion examples. Choose a range, sampling rate, dimensions, palette and repeat count, then download the encoded file.
Key features
- Choose start and end times in a source video
- Sample at 5, 10 or 15 FPS and encode real GIF bytes
- Set long-edge size, palette colors and total plays
- Preview the source range and show or hide the GIF
- Frame, pixel, output and time caps with cancellation
- Real encoded example and GIF download
How to use
- Select a local video or the 3-second example.
- Check source time and size, then enter start and end.
- Choose output settings and preview the range.
- Create the output and wait for local processing.
- Check and download the result, then clear the page if needed.
Use cases
- A brief product interaction demo
- Animated instructions for documentation

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from combining photos into a GIF?
The existing GIF maker combines still images. This tool decodes frames along a video timeline and turns a selected range into a GIF.
Does the GIF contain sound?
No. GIF is an image format without audio. Use the video trimmer with MP4 or WebM output to retain sound.
Does higher FPS always look smoother?
It cannot create additional real source moments. Low-FPS video may yield repeated frames. Higher FPS also increases frame count, size and processing work.
Why can GIF playback length differ slightly from the range?
GIF delays use 10 ms units. Frame boundaries are rounded and each duration, including the final frame, is at least 20 ms. A GIF viewer may adjust short delays further.
What does total plays mean?
One play omits the loop extension. N plays adds N−1 repeats after the first play. Infinite looping is encoded as zero. A viewer may impose its own playback policy.
Why do color and file size change?
Video colors are quantized to a palette of up to 256 colors and audio is removed. Gradients may look less smooth. Reducing duration, FPS and dimensions helps reduce size, but no particular size is guaranteed.
