Image Filter
Adjust a photo’s color and tone using five controls that work together. The tool reads a local PNG, JPEG or still WebP, creates a separate result and preserves the decoded image dimensions. Apply the settings when ready, compare both previews and save the resulting PNG.
Key features
- Combine brightness, contrast and saturation from 0–200% with grayscale and sepia from 0–100%.
- Compare the original image and the generated result side by side, or stacked on smaller screens.
- Process pixels in small batches with a progress indicator and a Cancel button.
- Retain transparency and decoded pixel dimensions when exporting PNG.
- Changing a setting or source clears the previous result so the download matches the current controls.
- Start with a generated landscape sample that includes a transparent corner.
How to use
- Select a supported image or load the built-in example. Check the displayed file size and pixel limits.
- Move the five sliders. Use Reset filters to restore neutral brightness, contrast and saturation.
- Select Apply filters and wait for the separate PNG preview. Cancel if you want to stop.
- Compare the original and result, then select Download PNG. Apply again after changing any setting.
Use cases
- Brighten a dark product photo while checking whether highlights become clipped.
- Make a grayscale illustration or add a warm sepia effect to a photograph.
- Reduce saturation in a background image so overlaid text is easier to design.
- Adjust a transparent logo’s colors without adding a solid background.
Frequently asked questions
What do the default percentages mean?
Brightness, contrast and saturation at 100% are neutral. Grayscale and sepia at 0% are off. Brightness at 0% makes RGB black; contrast at 0% makes it middle gray; saturation at 0% removes color. The alpha channel is kept.
In which order are the filters applied?
The fixed order is brightness, contrast, saturation, grayscale and sepia. Each stage uses the previous stage’s result, so combining settings can clip bright or saturated colors. Reset restores all five defaults.
Are my photo and its settings uploaded or stored?
This tool processes the selected file in this page’s memory. It does not transmit the file or settings to a processing server or save them in browser storage. Download PNG saves a file only when you select it.
Which files and image sizes are supported?
Use a PNG, JPEG or still WebP up to 20 MiB, 20 million pixels total and 8,192 pixels on either side. The file header and browser decoding must both pass. Unsupported or damaged files are rejected instead of returning an empty result.
Does the PNG keep transparency, size and photo metadata?
The output keeps the browser-decoded pixel dimensions and alpha values. The checkerboard only indicates transparency; it is not added to the PNG. A new canvas PNG does not preserve the original file’s EXIF or other metadata, and browser color decoding can differ from professional color-managed editors.
Why do I need to apply again after an edit, and can I stop processing?
A source or setting change invalidates the previous preview and download. Select Apply filters to produce a matching PNG. Cancel stops between small pixel batches; if the browser is already encoding PNG, its encoding may finish internally but the cancelled result is discarded.
Privacy
Your source image, filter settings and generated PNG stay in this page’s memory. This tool does not upload them or retain them in browser storage. Temporary previews are released when replaced, cleared or when you leave this tool.
