Video Stabilizer
Estimate whole-frame horizontal and vertical camera translation from sampled frames. Smooth each scene's motion path, shift the crop window safely inside each frame, and export a playable silent WebM with before/after jitter metrics.
Key features
- Sample a short local MP4 or WebM at 12 frames per second
- Estimate frame-to-frame whole-frame translation and reset at likely scene cuts
- Adjust smoothing strength and the maximum crop allowance
- Preview original and corrected videos side by side
- Inspect camera path, acceleration-based jitter estimate, crop and clipped-frame count
- Download a real, playable, silent WebM video
How to use
- Choose an MP4/WebM file up to eight seconds or create the example.
- Set smoothing strength and maximum crop allowance.
- Run stabilization and wait for local frame analysis and encoding.
- Compare the original and corrected preview plus camera path metrics.
- Download the stabilized WebM or adjust settings and run again.
Use cases
- Reduce handheld shake in a short product clip
- Compare two crop budgets before exporting a shot
- Inspect camera movement across a scene cut
- Prepare a silent motion sample for a presentation
Frequently asked questions
Does this produce a new video?
Yes. It crops and shifts actual decoded frames, re-encodes them with the browser's WebM MediaRecorder and offers a playable download. The input is unchanged.
What motion can it fix?
It estimates one horizontal and vertical translation per frame. Rotation, zoom, rolling shutter, moving subjects, low-texture scenes and shifts beyond the search range can produce poor results. Preview every export.
Why is the image zoomed in?
A shifted frame needs spare edge pixels. The tool crops equally on all sides up to your chosen budget; if a correction exceeds that budget it is clipped and the clipped-frame count increases.
Does the export contain sound?
No. Canvas MediaRecorder exports a silent WebM at approximately 12 fps. Original audio, captions and metadata are not retained. Browser codec and frame timing may vary.
Is jitter improvement guaranteed?
No. The metric is the RMS of second differences of estimated translation, not a visual-quality score. Scene detection and motion are heuristic; a lower number can still look worse.
What are the limits?
One local MP4/WebM up to 32 MiB, eight seconds and 8 million source pixels. Output is at most 480 × 270 and sampled at 12 fps. Decoding and recording require browser codec support.

Your video is decoded and re-encoded in this browser. The source bytes and frames are not sent to this tool's server or saved in browser storage. Clearing the workspace releases media URLs.
