Focus Games · Numbers and Ink Colors
Explore two practice games. Number search uses a 3×3 to 5×5 grid, recording active time and out-of-order clicks. Ink-color practice asks you to choose the actual color instead of the word meaning over twenty trials, recording errors and response times. Neither game diagnoses health, attention or ADHD, or assigns an ability grade.
Key features
- Ordered number search in 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5 grids
- Twenty trials of matching or conflicting color words
- Condition means, errors and conflicting-minus-matching mean difference
- Number mode pauses when hidden; ink mode is cancelled
- Keyboard support, optional visible color names and fixed examples
- Personal observations without diagnostic scores or rankings
How to use
- Choose Number search or Ink colors.
- For numbers, choose a grid and find 1 onward in order.
- For ink colors, select the color actually used to draw the word.
- Read ink-color feedback, then move to the next trial.
- Finish every number or all twenty color trials.
- Review the personal record or start another game.
Use cases
- A short visual-search game during a break
- Explore the difference between number and ink-color tasks
- Practice keyboard, mouse or touch selection
- Learn both tasks through fixed examples
Frequently asked questions
Can these games diagnose attention or ADHD?
No. Both are non-medical practice games, not diagnostic or screening tests. They estimate no health condition, ability grade, population percentile or ranking against other people.
How do the two modes differ?
Number mode keeps the grid visible while you select 1 onward. Ink mode asks you to ignore the word meaning and choose its actual color. Twenty trials contain ten matching and ten conflicting word/color pairs in shuffled order. Examples use a fixed 3×3 grid and four fixed color trials.
What does the time measure?
Number mode measures active time from Start to the final choice, excluding pauses. Ink mode measures from a browser animation frame after the trial is mounted to the first response; reading feedback is excluded. Ink means include incorrect responses. This is not laboratory timing corrected for display, device or input latency. The condition difference subtracts the matching mean from the conflicting mean only when both groups contain responses. Do not assume that it removes hardware latency or enables cross-device ability comparisons.
What happens if I switch tabs?
Number mode pauses automatically and requires explicit Resume. Ink mode cancels the session when a hidden-page or page-leaving event is detected, retaining an incomplete record. Cancelled ink sessions cannot resume; start a new one.
Can I use a keyboard or screen reader?
Use arrows, Home and End in the number grid and Enter or Space to select. Ink buttons use Tab and Enter or Space. Screen-reader announcements include both the written word and actual ink color, creating different conditions from visual play. Number mode is an alternative if color discrimination is difficult. Optional visible color-name assistance can be selected before starting and is fixed and recorded for the session. Do not mix assisted and unassisted visual records.
How are errors, cancellation and resets handled?
A future number adds a wrong click; a completed number does nothing. Wrong clicks are capped at 999,999. Ink mode records only the first response. Cancelled sessions are distinct from completed sessions. A new game, mode change or reload clears the old record.
Privacy
Settings, selections and timing records stay in current-page memory. The tool does not send inputs or results to a server or analytics event, or save them automatically. Reloading, starting a new session or switching modes clears the previous record.
