Long Image Splitter
Turn a scrolling screenshot or long guide into several image segments. Choose the number of parts or a fixed height or width, then save PNGs that retain every remaining pixel. Unlike batch resizing, this tool creates multiple results from one source image.
Key features
- Vertical or horizontal splitting of one source image
- Equal-count partitions or fixed pixel-length segments
- Preservation of final short segments and odd-size remainders
- Boundary numbers on the source and actual output dimensions
- Numbered PNG files and a single ZIP download
How to use
- Choose a source file or load the example.
- Choose vertical or horizontal direction and count or fixed-length mode.
- Enter the count or segment height or width and inspect the planned boundaries.
- Split the image to create PNG tiles.
- Check each tile’s dimensions and download individual PNGs or the ZIP.
Use cases
- Break a scrolling screenshot into document-sized sections
- Divide a long guide to fit an upload height limit
- Save source-coordinate sections from a poster or diagram
- Extract continuous segments from a long storyboard
Frequently asked questions
Why can equal-count tiles differ by one pixel?
Pixel coordinates are integers. Splitting 1,001px into three parts produces lengths of 333, 334 and 334px. Integer boundaries preserve the entire source with no missing or duplicated pixels.
Is a short final segment discarded?
No. A 520px image split every 200px produces lengths of 200, 200 and 120px. If the fixed length exceeds the source length, the output is one source-sized tile.
What do vertical and horizontal mean?
Vertical splits from top to bottom while keeping each tile’s full source width. Horizontal splits from left to right while preserving height. Preview numbers and boundary lines are guides only.
Does PNG output change quality or transparency?
Decoded source pixels are cropped without resizing and saved as PNG, retaining transparency. There is no JPEG re-encoding, but the original compressed bytes, EXIF and other file metadata are not preserved.
Are there limits on tile count or output size?
The limit is 64 tiles, 20 million source and combined output pixels, 8,192px per side and 64 MiB of generated PNG data. Tile count cannot exceed the source length in pixels because that would create empty tiles.
How do I read the ZIP file order?
Names start with a sequence such as 01 or 02 and include the spatial tile number, row and column. Vertical results run top to bottom; horizontal results run left to right. Changing settings clears old results and requires regeneration.

Images, selected coordinates and results are processed in the current page’s browser memory. This tool does not send files or settings to a server or automatically save them in browser storage. Choosing a PNG or ZIP download saves the result to your device.
