Screenprint Separation Studio
Choose one to four ink colors and screen angles, then map your image to ideal translucent spot-ink coverages. Each coverage becomes a periodic dot screen. Preview the binary-plate overprint and download every color plate with matching registration crosses. This browser model is a design proof: actual ink opacity, substrate color, mesh count, trapping and output resolution require a physical print proof.
Key features
- One to four editable spot-ink colors and independent screen angles
- Constrained ideal-overprint coverage estimation
- Periodic halftone dots with 4–24 pixel cell size
- Binary plate composite preview
- Aligned color-plate PNG exports with four registration crosses
How to use
- Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP of at most 1024 pixels per side and 524,288 pixels total, or load the example.
- Choose ink colors, each screen angle and the dot-cell width.
- Generate the separations and compare the composite with the original.
- Download each plate PNG and the composite PNG; keep all images at the same size.
- Proof the design with actual ink, mesh, substrate and alignment before printing.
Use cases
- Estimate a three-ink poster separation
- Compare halftone cell sizes on a small illustration
- Export registered color plates for a print proof
Frequently asked questions
Are the color plates press-ready?
No. The preview uses ideal transparent RGB overprint and periodic pixel dots. Real opacity, mesh, substrate, trapping and exposure need a physical proof.
Why are colors different from my source image?
The selected inks may not span every source color. The output is a binary halftone approximation, so color and detail change with the ink palette and cell size.
Do all downloads line up?
Yes. Every PNG has the same pixel dimensions, 28-pixel white border and four matching registration crosses. Do not resize plates independently.
Does this tool convert images to CMYK?
No. It estimates coverage for a user-defined spot-ink palette, which is different from a calibrated CMYK workflow.
Are my images uploaded?
No server API receives the source or outputs from this tool. Processing and PNG export happen in browser memory.
