Image Rotate & Flip
Change an image’s orientation by 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°, and optionally flip it horizontally or vertically. The selected clockwise rotation is applied first, followed by flips in the output screen’s axes. Whole-image quarter-turn geometry keeps every pixel position inside the output bounds without a separate resize.
Key features
- Choose clockwise 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° rotation
- Combine horizontal and vertical flips after rotation
- Swap source width and height at 90° and 270°
- Save PNG with transparency support
- Update the preview and invalidate old downloads when options change
How to use
- Choose an image or load the example.
- Select a clockwise rotation angle.
- Optionally flip the rotated result horizontally or vertically.
- Check the preview and output dimensions, then choose Create PNG.
- Download the new PNG. Generate again after changing orientation.
Use cases
- Turn a sideways photo upright
- Create a mirrored composition or flipped screenshot
- Prepare a different orientation of a transparent logo or shape
Frequently asked questions
In what order are rotation and flips applied?
The source is rotated clockwise by the selected angle, then flipped along the output screen’s horizontal or vertical axes. These are fixed-order settings; the order in which you check the boxes does not affect the result.
Does a 90° rotation crop or stretch the image?
No. Output width and height are swapped to contain the whole image. An 800×520 px source becomes 520×800 px at 90° or 270°. At 0° or 180° it keeps its original dimensions. No additional resize is performed.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle such as 45°?
This tool handles 90° steps and horizontal or vertical flips. Arbitrary-angle rotation, perspective transforms, added canvas margins and image resizing are not included.
What happens when both flips are enabled?
The selected rotation result is flipped in both axes. Geometrically this matches turning that result another 180°. Output dimensions remain those determined by the chosen rotation angle.
Are transparency and photo metadata preserved?
PNG output supports transparent areas. The browser-decoded colors and orientation are redrawn, so original EXIF metadata, compression and byte-for-byte file identity are not retained. Keep the original file separately.
Which files are supported, and when does a download update?
Static PNG, JPEG and WebP up to 20 MiB, 20 million pixels and 8,192 px per side are supported. Animation is unsupported. Loading a new image or changing rotation or flips clears the previous PNG; create it again before downloading the new settings.
Privacy
Files and results are processed in browser memory. This tool does not send images, filenames, coordinates or settings to a server or analytics service. It downloads a new PNG without overwriting the original. Clearing, reloading or leaving the page clears the working state. Site-wide advertising and analytics may operate separately.
