Frequently asked questions
Does removal delete every leading number?
No. The leading digits must be followed by the selected separator. Dot mode removes prefixes such as 1. followed by one space, while leaving dates such as 2026-09-20 intact.
Is original indentation preserved?
Numbers are placed before each original line, so indentation remains after the prefix. Removing the same format returns the original line contents.
Do skipped blank lines consume numbers?
No. Whitespace-only lines are kept unchanged and do not increment the number. Number-blank-lines mode includes them in the sequence.
Does a final newline get an extra number?
A single terminal newline is not counted as another item. Actual blank lines are handled by your setting, and line endings become LF.

Input and results are processed in your browser. This tool does not send or save their contents to a server. Shared site advertising, visitor analytics, and aggregate tool-use measurement may operate separately.
