Dialogue Script Editor
Create characters and scenes, then add dialogue or stage directions in order within each scene. Dialogue points to stable character IDs, so a rename updates every line. Moving a scene keeps its entries and links intact. Export printable TXT, a selected character's lines, a CSV breakdown of entries and words per scene, or an editable JSON project.

Frequently asked questions
Do older lines update when I rename a character?
Yes. Dialogue references a stable character ID rather than a copied name. The screen, printout and excerpt show the new name.
Will moving a scene lose dialogue?
No. The whole scene moves, preserving the order of entries and their character links.
Is my work saved automatically?
No. Editing occurs only in browser memory. Download a project JSON file to preserve it and import it later.
How is scene length calculated?
The breakdown counts dialogue and direction entries and whitespace-separated words. It does not estimate performance time or standardized script pages.
Can I import other screenplay formats?
Only this tool's validated local-dialogue-script-v1 JSON can be re-imported. PDF, Word and Final Draft conversion are not provided.
What are the limits?
Up to 30 characters, 100 scenes, 1000 total entries, 2000 characters per entry and 256 KiB for project JSON. Review final layout and directing decisions yourself.
