Markdown Repository Auditor
Choose a Markdown folder or several .md files and a starting document. The tool resolves internal links against selected files and heading anchors. It applies basic GitHub heading rules, including Unicode titles and -1 suffixes for repeated headings. Documents unreachable by following links from the root are reported. External URLs and unselected assets are explicitly marked unchecked.

Frequently asked questions
Are Unicode heading anchors checked?
Yes. Heading text is lowercased, spaces become hyphens, and Unicode letters remain. Repeated headings get -1, -2 suffixes. These follow GitHub's basic rules but can differ from other Markdown renderers.
How are parent-folder links handled?
../ and ./ resolve from the source document's folder. A path leaving the selected root is reported separately.
What counts as an orphan?
A selected file unreachable from the chosen root by following valid internal Markdown links. The tool cannot know whether external navigation or search reaches it.
Are images and external URLs checked?
No. External URLs and unselected image or other assets are marked unchecked. The tool sends no network requests and does not crawl a live site.
Are link-like strings in code blocks checked?
No. A Markdown parser visits real link tokens, excluding fenced code and inline code.
What files and limits are supported?
Up to 200 .md files, 128 KiB each and 1 MiB total. Folder selection depends on browser support; multiple individual files are also supported.
Privacy
