GeoJSON Map Editor
Work on a simple longitude–latitude grid without loading a map tile service. Import a GeoJSON FeatureCollection, draw new points, lines and polygons, then select a vertex to move it by clicking or by typing exact coordinates. Properties stay attached to their features. Export the edited data as GeoJSON and the current viewport as SVG. This editor supports 2D Point, LineString and Polygon features; other geometry types are rejected rather than discarded.
Key features
- Click to draw 2D Point, LineString and Polygon features on a coordinate grid
- Select a feature and move a vertex by map click or exact longitude and latitude inputs
- Edit per-feature JSON properties while retaining nested values and feature IDs
- Validate a bounded GeoJSON FeatureCollection, closed polygon rings and coordinate ranges
- Fit the viewport to current features or inspect a full-world view
- Download GeoJSON for further editing or a standalone SVG preview
How to use
- Choose Point, Line or Polygon mode and click the map. Finish a line after two points or a polygon after three points.
- Choose a feature and one of its vertices, then select Move and click a new location. You can instead enter exact longitude and latitude.
- Edit the selected feature's JSON properties and save. Delete unwanted features individually.
- Paste or open a local GeoJSON FeatureCollection to validate and load it. Unsupported geometry and malformed data leave your current map unchanged.
- Fit or reset the view, then download the edited GeoJSON or current SVG preview.
Use cases
- Sketch a small route and save coordinates for another mapping tool
- Correct an imported polygon vertex and preserve feature attributes
- Create a simple SVG preview of local GeoJSON without external tiles
Frequently asked questions
Which GeoJSON types can I edit?
A FeatureCollection containing 2D Point, LineString or Polygon features, including polygon holes. GeometryCollection, MultiPoint, MultiLineString and MultiPolygon are rejected. The editor does not silently remove unsupported features.
Which coordinate goes first?
Longitude is first, latitude is second, as in [126.978, 37.5665]. The editor accepts longitude from −180 to 180 and latitude from −90 to 90.
Does this check topology or show real map tiles?
No. The grid is a simple equirectangular coordinate preview without map tiles. It checks ring closure and nonzero area but does not prove that polygon edges never intersect or that holes are contained.
What happens to properties and polygon rings on export?
Feature properties, nested JSON values, feature IDs and closed rings round-trip. Exterior rings are emitted counterclockwise and holes clockwise. Unknown top-level members and unsupported geometry are rejected on import.
Are imported features uploaded?
No. Parsing, editing and downloads run locally in your browser. No map tile or geocoding request is made.
Privacy
Your GeoJSON is parsed and edited in this browser. This editor does not upload features or contact a map service.
