Project Risk Register
Name the likelihood and impact levels that fit your project, then record both inherent and post-response residual ratings for each risk. A blank owner is counted as unassigned. Resolving and reopening a risk records the reason, ratings and scale labels at that moment. Select a map cell to inspect risks with those ratings.
Key features
- Custom 2–5 level likelihood and impact scales
- Separate inherent and residual risk maps
- Owner, cause, response and unassigned-owner counts
- Mitigation, resolution and reopening history with historical scale labels
- Status, assignment and map-cell report filters
- Strict JSON round-trip and CSV export including history
How to use
- Load the example or start a new register and set the project title.
- Write each likelihood and impact level on its own line and apply the scales.
- Add risk causes, owners, responses, inherent and residual ratings.
- Record mitigation, resolution or reopening with a reason and inspect the maps.
- Save the JSON project for later editing or share the CSV report.
Use cases
- Assign release reliability risks and mitigation work
- Compare remaining risks under a project-specific rating scheme
- Review prior decisions when reopening a resolved issue
Frequently asked questions
Can I change likelihood and impact scales?
Yes. Each scale can have two to five unique level names. A shorter scale is rejected while a current risk still uses a removed level number. Re-rate that risk first. Previous level names remain in historical events.
Can I add a risk before assigning an owner?
Yes. An empty owner is counted and shown as unassigned. Assigning a person later adds a new event while preserving the prior unassigned snapshot.
Does reopening a resolved risk erase the old record?
No. Resolution and reopening are separate events requiring a reason. The state, ratings and scale labels from each event remain in the JSON project.
Are risk scores actual probabilities?
No. A score is only the product of two ordinal level numbers, useful for local prioritization. It does not estimate real probability, monetary loss or regulatory compliance.
Can I import the CSV for further editing?
The CSV is a shareable register and history report. Save and import the version 1 JSON to preserve and edit the full project state and scales.
Is this automatically saved?
No. Inputs remain in the current browser page's memory. Download the JSON file before leaving or refreshing the page.
Privacy
Risk entries are processed only in this browser page's memory, with no automatic upload or server storage. A local file is created only when you choose a JSON or CSV download.
