What is the HEIC to JPG Converter?

The HEIC to JPG Converter is a free online tool that turns the HEIC (HEIF) photos your iPhone and iPad save by default into JPG or PNG files you can open anywhere. It targets the most common pain points head-on: 'I moved my iPhone photos to my computer and they won't open,' or 'I'm trying to upload to a blog or form but the format isn't supported.' No software to install and no sign-up — it works right in your browser.

Drop several files at once and they convert automatically in sequence; converted photos are shown as thumbnails and can be downloaded together as a single ZIP archive. Everything runs on your own device (in the browser), so your photos are never sent to a server — portraits and sensitive images stay private. It also supports JPG quality control, lossless PNG output, and automatic EXIF orientation correction.

Key Features

Batch JPG/PNG conversion

Drop many HEIC/HEIF photos at once and convert them all to JPG or PNG in a single pass.

One-click ZIP download

Bundle all converted photos into one ZIP archive instead of saving them one at a time.

Quality control & savings

Tune size and quality with the JPG slider, and see the savings rate and resolution at a glance.

No-upload privacy

Every conversion runs in your browser so photos never leave your device. EXIF orientation is auto-corrected too.

How to Use

  1. Choose the output format and quality. For JPG, use the slider to balance size and quality; PNG is exported losslessly.
  2. Add your HEIC photos by dragging and dropping onto the area, or click to select multiple files at once.
  3. Files are converted automatically inside your browser as soon as they're added, with a progress indicator. Nothing is uploaded.
  4. Review the results in the thumbnail previews, including resolution, file size, and savings. EXIF orientation keeps photos upright.
  5. Download each photo individually, or use Download ZIP to grab everything in one archive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HEIC and why won't it open on my computer?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image File) is Apple's default format for storing photos on iPhones and iPads at a much smaller file size. It saves space without sacrificing quality, but Windows' built-in photo viewer and many older apps and websites don't support it, which is why your photos 'won't open.' Converting them to JPG or PNG with this tool makes them openable everywhere.

Are my photos uploaded to a server? Is this safe?

No. Every conversion happens 100% inside your browser, and your photos are never sent to a server. Since nothing is uploaded to the internet, you can safely convert portraits and sensitive images. No sign-up and no software installation are required.

Can I convert multiple photos at once?

Yes. Drag and drop or select several HEIC files at once and they are converted automatically, one after another. When they're done, the 'Download ZIP' button lets you grab every photo in a single archive, so you don't have to save them one by one.

Should I choose JPG or PNG?

For photos, JPG is usually recommended: it's small and has the best compatibility, and the quality slider lets you balance image quality against file size. Choose PNG, a lossless format, when you need a transparent background or want zero quality loss. Keep in mind PNG files are larger.

Will quality drop, or will my photos come out sideways?

With the JPG quality slider set to 90 or higher the difference is hard to notice, and PNG is lossless with no quality loss at all. The tool also reads the EXIF orientation stored in the HEIC file, so portrait shots are converted in the correct orientation instead of appearing rotated sideways.

What happens to the location and capture info in my photos?

During conversion each photo is drawn to a canvas and rebuilt as a new image. In this process most metadata such as GPS location and capture date is stripped out, reducing the risk of leaking personal information when you share the photo. Only the orientation is preserved so the image looks correct.

Privacy Notice

This tool runs 100% in your browser. The HEIC photos you add are never uploaded to a server — conversion, previewing, and downloading all happen on your device only. When you close the page or remove a file, the photos and their converted results are cleared from memory immediately and are never stored or transmitted anywhere. Additionally, most metadata such as GPS location is stripped during conversion, so you can share more safely.
