Video Reframe Studio
Reframe a short video for a vertical, portrait, square or landscape canvas. Click the sampled frame or enter X/Y percentages to place the point of interest at keyframes. The crop center travels linearly between them and stays inside the source; a clamped count reveals when your requested point cannot be centered. Export the actual re-encoded video and every sampled crop coordinate.
Key features
- Choose 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9 output framing
- Place up to 12 manual interest-point keyframes using a frame preview or accessible X/Y inputs
- Linearly interpolate the crop center for each sampled frame and clamp it to source bounds
- Preview the source and the newly encoded, silent reframed video
- Review boundary-limited frames and the per-frame crop table
- Download the real video together with an auditable CSV or JSON crop path
How to use
- Choose a local video of up to six seconds and 32 MiB or create the example.
- Select the output aspect ratio and a frame on the timeline.
- Click an interest point or enter X/Y percentages, then save a keyframe. Adjust both endpoints and add middle keyframes as needed.
- Inspect the crop outline and the number of edge-clamped frames, then render the video.
- Play the result and download the video and crop-path CSV or JSON.
Use cases
- Move a vertical crop from one speaker to another in a short interview excerpt
- Keep a product inside a square frame as it travels across the shot
- Plan a manual portrait crop without uploading footage to a server
- Hand off exact sampled crop positions as CSV to a second editing workflow
Frequently asked questions
Does it automatically detect or follow a person?
No. You manually set interest points at keyframes. The app linearly interpolates their positions; it does not identify faces, subjects or motion and cannot guarantee that an object stays in frame. Inspect the output.
Does it actually create a new video?
Yes. It applies the computed crop rectangle to each decoded sample and encodes a new playable MP4 when AVC encoding is available, otherwise WebM when VP8 is available. Unsupported browser codecs show an error.
Why is the subject not always centered?
The crop cannot cross an input edge. When an interest point is too close to an edge, the crop center is clamped inside the source. The page reports how many sampled frames were clamped.
Is original audio preserved?
No. Output is silent at approximately eight sampled frames per second. Original audio, captions, metadata and unsampled source frames are not retained.
Are CSV positions the original full-resolution coordinates?
No. Crop coordinates are in the decoded analysis frame, whose longest edge is at most 480 pixels. The JSON states its coordinate and time bases. Sampling can skip source frames and source timestamps may differ.
What input and output limits apply?
A local video must fit within 32 MiB and six seconds, with a decodable browser-supported video track. At most 48 samples are used; the longest output edge is at most 480 pixels. Output may be clipped or softened by the crop and encoder.
Privacy
The video is decoded, cropped and encoded in this browser. Source bytes and frames are not sent to this tool's server or stored in browser storage. Clearing the workspace releases media URLs.
