Frequently asked questions
Which voices are available?
Only voices exposed by your current browser appear. Languages, voice names and counts vary by device and operating system, and the list may arrive late. Refresh it or try the browser default; playback is not guaranteed.
Is my text sent to a server?
The tool does not send text to its own server or analytics events or save it. A remote browser voice may send text to its service provider. Local/remote labels reflect the browser localService property; the processing location of the default voice is not established here.
Can I download an audio file?
This tool reads through the browser only. It does not create MP3 or WAV files or download links. Pronunciation and audio quality depend on the selected engine.
How much text can I read?
Up to3,000 Unicode code points are accepted after normalizing line endings and trimming edge whitespace. Start with short passages. Failure to start within15 seconds or continuous playback beyond10 minutes ends with an explicit error. Long-text interruptions are not automatically recovered.
What if pause or resume fails?
Browser implementations differ. The tool checks engine state or events. If confirmation is absent after3 seconds, it stops with an error. Check volume and output devices, then try reading again.
What do the example and page navigation do?
The example only fills the text; it does not autoplay. Text and settings are locked during reading, and Clear also stops playback. Leaving the page or unmounting the tool cancels its active utterance. Inputs are not saved automatically.
Privacy
Text and settings remain in page memory. Pressing Read passes text to the browser speech engine, which may use a remote voice provider. The tool does not transmit to its own server or analytics events, or save inputs automatically.
