Periodic Trend Lab
Build a local comparison from data you may use. Enter each element's reported identity, periodic position and one property value, then select up to twelve rows. The grid, chart and table keep a measured zero distinct from a missing value. This page supplies no real element property table and does not verify imported values or source rights.
Key features
- User-provided source, version, rights, property, unit, measurement basis and conditions travel with every export
- Editable main and f-block positions, with a periodic grid and keyboard-operable selection
- Scatter comparison by supplied atomic number, plus a text table with exact values and citations
- Blank means missing; numeric 0 remains a plotted observation
- Separate elemental, isotope-specific and reported average-atomic-weight bases; isotope rows require a mass number
- Strict versioned JSON and CSV import/export with UTF-8 and size limits
How to use
- Enter the dataset title, source, version, reuse rights, property unit and measurement/condition basis, or load the fictional interface example.
- Add rows with atomic number, symbol, name, periodic position and a numeric value; leave the value empty only when it is unavailable.
- Choose up to twelve rows in the grid or the keyboard-friendly row list and inspect the scatter chart and comparison table.
- Download versioned JSON or CSV. Import a file in the same format to continue editing without losing provenance.
Use cases
- Compare permitted classroom element measurements from a cited worksheet
- Inspect isotope-specific values without confusing them with an element's reported average atomic weight
- Spot missing observations separately from actual zero measurements
Frequently asked questions
Where do the property values come from?
Only from you. The built-in four-row example is fictional and labelled as such. No 118-element property or isotope dataset is bundled because no verified redistribution license and version have been established for one here.
Does the tool confirm that the element identity or grid placement is correct?
No. It checks numeric ranges, unique atomic numbers, symbols and occupied cells, but cannot authenticate the supplied element, position, value, citation or rights claim.
Is blank the same as zero?
No. An empty value is stored as null and shown as missing. The number 0 is stored and plotted at the zero baseline.
What does average atomic weight mean here?
It is a label for a value you supply, not a calculation. State the source's isotopic-composition convention and unit in the measurement basis; isotope-specific rows instead require a mass number.
Are different units converted automatically?
No. A project compares one named property and unit under one stated basis. Convert or reconcile data with the source before entering it; the page does not establish scientific comparability.
Can I load a full periodic table?
The format permits up to 118 user-supplied rows with main-grid or explicitly placed f-block cells. It does not populate or validate 118 identities. Only twelve rows can be selected at once for a readable comparison.
