Stop Motion Studio
Build a short stop-motion sequence one photograph at a time. With the camera running, the previous captured frame can be superimposed over the live view so you can line up the next pose. You can also import local images, reorder or delete frames, choose playback fps, preview the animation and render a silent MP4 or WebM. A ZIP contains the normalized PNG frames and a manifest for further editing.
Key features
- Capture individual 320×240 frames from the browser camera; stop and release its track
- Align the next pose using an adjustable overlay of the last frame
- Import local PNG, JPEG or WebP images as additional frames
- Delete or reorder frames and choose 1–12 frames per second
- Preview motion and encode the actual frame sequence as silent MP4 or WebM
- Download a ZIP with numbered PNG frames and a manifest of order, fps and size
How to use
- Use a secure browser page, allow the camera and point it at the subject, or import local pictures.
- Capture each pose separately; adjust the previous-frame onion skin to line up the next shot.
- Reorder or delete frames and choose a playback speed from 1 to 12 fps.
- Preview the sequence, render the video and play it to check timing.
- Download the video and, if you want to edit later, the ZIP of numbered PNG frames. Stop the camera when finished.
Use cases
- Animate a paper cutout while keeping it aligned between captures
- Make a short product turntable from manually photographed poses
- Arrange classroom clay-animation photos into a reviewable clip
- Save individual normalized frames for later editing in another application
Frequently asked questions
Does this continuously record the camera?
No. A frame is captured only when you press Capture. The live preview is for composition; the downloadable video is built from the frame list.
What is the onion skin?
It is a translucent overlay of the latest saved frame above the live camera view. It helps you align the next pose and is not burned into captured frames.
Can I use the tool without a camera?
Yes. Import PNG, JPEG or WebP images, or use the example. Camera permission and a secure context are needed only for live capture.
Is the exported file a real video?
Yes. The browser encodes the ordered frame pixels as MP4 when AVC encoding is available, otherwise WebM when VP8 is available. A browser without either encoder shows an error.
Does the export include sound or the original image dimensions?
No. It is silent and each imported or captured image is center-cropped to 320×240 pixels. Review the normalized frames and video before sharing.
What limits apply?
Up to 48 frames and 24 MiB of normalized PNG frames are held in memory. Each imported image is at most 5 MiB. The video is at most 32 MiB. Work is not autosaved; download the project ZIP before leaving.
Privacy
Camera frames and imported pictures are processed in this browser. This tool does not upload the images to its server or save them in browser storage. Stop the camera or close the page to release the camera track.
