Sound Effect Synthesizer
This tool creates a short sound effect without a source recording. A sine, triangle, saw or square oscillator glides from its starting to ending frequency on an exponential ratio and mixes with reproducible seeded white noise or simple low-pass softened noise. Attack, decay, sustain and release (ADSR) and master level shape the result, which is saved as a mono 16-bit PCM WAV. Laser, impact and coin presets are starting points; no copyrighted recording samples are used.
Key features
- Design a rising or falling pitch sweep with four waveforms and start/end frequencies from 40 to 3500 Hz.
- Apply an attack, decay, sustain and release amplitude envelope to an 80 ms–5 s effect.
- Adjust a mix of white or softly filtered noise using a reproducible 32-bit integer seed.
- Inspect the actual synthesized waveform and listen while checking peak and RMS levels.
- Save a mono 16-bit PCM WAV and versioned parameter JSON, then import that JSON again.
How to use
- Load a laser, impact or coin preset, or choose a waveform and start/end frequency.
- Set total duration, attack, decay, sustain and release, plus noise mix, color, seed and level.
- Generate the effect, inspect the waveform and peak, and listen to the preview.
- Download the WAV and settings JSON, or reimport a saved JSON and synthesize again.
Use cases
- Create a short laser or coin sound for a game button or simple action.
- Regenerate the same test sound with an unchanged seed and parameter file.
- Hear how a frequency sweep and noise mix change a one-shot effect.
Frequently asked questions
Does the same configuration make the same sound each time?
Yes. The seed determines the noise sequence, and the other calculations use the same sample rate and parameters. Repeating the same settings in this tool produces the same PCM samples and WAV bytes.
Can the start or end click?
An extra approximately 5 ms fade is applied at the beginning and end, and both endpoint samples are zero. This reduces hard-edge clicks but does not promise silence in every playback device or later edit.
Is the soft noise pink noise?
No. It is white noise passed through a simple one-pole low-pass filter. It does not guarantee a calibrated pink-noise spectrum.
What are the setting and file limits?
Duration is 80–5000 ms, frequency is 40–3500 Hz, sample rate is 8–48 kHz, and output is at most 240,000 samples. Attack+decay+release cannot exceed the total duration. The output is mono 16-bit PCM WAV; JSON uses this tool's v1 preset format.
Why is the measured peak below a level of 1?
The waveform/noise mix, time envelope and endpoint fades can all lower the actual peak. Samples are kept within ±1, but this setting does not control the physical loudness of your speakers.
Is sound or a preset sent to a server?
No. PCM synthesis and imported JSON parsing happen in browser memory. A local Blob URL provides preview and downloads.
Privacy
Settings, imported JSON and synthesized samples stay in the browser and are not sent to a server. WAV and JSON are saved to your device only when you use the download buttons. Changing parameters or leaving the page releases the previous preview URL.
