Terminology Glossary Manager
Define what each concept means, then choose preferred and discouraged expressions for every language. If the same spelling belongs to two concepts, the tool leaves a conflict for a person to resolve. It can locate discouraged forms in your text and show a preferred candidate, but does not determine meaning or translation quality automatically.
Key features
- Concept definitions with up to eight languages and preferred/forbidden forms
- Cross-concept same-language spelling conflicts with search and filtering
- Exact Unicode word-boundary usage checks with ambiguous results kept separate
- Round-trip version 1 JSON and formula-safe CSV plus a limited TBX Basic 3 DCA profile
- Reject unknown versions, extra fields, malformed XML or corrupt UTF-8 without replacing current work
- Export issue line, column and normalized UTF-16 positions to CSV
How to use
- Load the fictional example or enter a concept definition and one preferred term for each language.
- Put discouraged forms on separate lines and add language rows before saving the concept.
- Search the glossary and filter concepts with ambiguous spellings.
- Choose a document language, check the text and review ambiguous results yourself.
- Export the glossary as JSON, CSV or TBX, save usage findings as CSV, or import a compatible file.
Use cases
- Use one concept for Save and its language equivalents in a product interface
- Spot an English form that is forbidden for one concept but preferred for another
- Locate discouraged expressions in a local draft and share their positions with an editor
Frequently asked questions
Which concept wins when the same word appears twice?
Neither is selected automatically. The normalized spelling is reported as a conflict. A matching use in text is marked ambiguous and has no automatic replacement suggestion.
How are inflections, particles and punctuation handled?
Matching uses exact Unicode word boundaries, NFC normalization and case-insensitive comparison. Runs of spaces within a form match one or more spaces. There is no stemming, Korean particle split or meaning analysis, so ‘save’ does not match ‘saved’.
Can this import any TBX file?
No. It preserves only a TBX Basic 3 DCA subset from ISO 30042:2019: concept-level definition, langSec, termSec and preferred/deprecated administrativeStatus. Other data categories, inline markup and external entities are rejected to avoid silent loss. This tool's ‘forbidden’ policy is exchanged as deprecatedTerm-admn-sts.
How is CSV versioned and protected from formulas?
Every row carries teck-tani-terminology-v1 and the same six-column header is required. Values starting like formulas or with an apostrophe are guarded on export and restored when this tool imports them.
Are the glossary and checked text saved online?
No. They stay in this browser tab's memory, with no automatic upload or account save. Import replaces the current glossary, so export a copy before closing the tab if you need to keep it.
Privacy
Glossary data and checked text are processed in this browser tab. Files are not automatically uploaded; export happens only when you choose it. Review terminology and source text before sharing.
