Number Base Converter
Choose the original and target bases to represent the same integer in a different numeral system. The converter uses BigInt rather than Number, preserving integer digits beyond JavaScript’s safe integer range. Input is limited to 4,096 characters, including signs and surrounding spaces.
Key features
- Set source and target bases independently from 2 to 36.
- Read optional positive or negative signs and remove unnecessary leading zeroes.
- Use A–Z for digit values above nine; input letters are case-insensitive.
How to use
- Set the source base that matches your number.
- Enter the integer without a prefix: use FF, rather than 0xFF, for hexadecimal.
- Choose the target base, run the conversion, and copy the result.
Use cases
- Compare hexadecimal constants with decimal values in code.
- Read an integer represented as binary digits.
- Convert large integer identifiers without losing precision.
Frequently asked questions
Can I include 0x or 0b prefixes?
No. Enter FF with source base 16, or 1010 with source base 2. Prefixes are not parsed.
Are fractions and scientific notation supported?
Only integers are supported. Decimal points, thousands separators, and scientific notation are not accepted. Letters that are valid digits in the selected base, such as E in hexadecimal, are interpreted as digit values.
Are negative numbers shown in two’s complement?
No. A negative result uses a minus sign followed by its magnitude. The tool does not assume a fixed bit width or two’s-complement representation.
Can large integers be rounded?
Integers within the input limit are computed with BigInt and are not rounded. Output may contain more digits than input, depending on the target base.
Privacy
Input and results are processed in browser memory. This tool does not upload or save them; resetting or leaving the page clears them. Shared advertising and visitor analytics may operate separately, but individual input contents are not included in tool-use events.
