Image Crop
Select a rectangular part of a photo or screenshot and create a new PNG. Drag selections are converted into whole source-pixel coordinates, with numeric fields for precise adjustment. Output uses the selected width and height directly without an additional resize.
Key features
- Select the same rectangle by dragging or numeric coordinates
- Free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 9:16 aspect ratios
- Show source-pixel dimensions and actual output size
- Move 1 px with arrows or 10 px with Shift and arrows
- Download a new PNG with transparency support
How to use
- Choose an image or load the example.
- Select an aspect ratio and drag a rectangle, or enter coordinates and dimensions.
- Focus the selection area to move it with arrow keys, or fit the largest rectangle.
- Check output dimensions and choose Create PNG.
- Inspect the generated preview and download it. Changing the selection clears the previous result.
Use cases
- Extract the relevant section of a screenshot
- Choose a landscape or portrait image region for a post
- Extract image regions with predetermined pixel coordinates
Frequently asked questions
Does the smaller preview determine output resolution?
No. The preview fits the screen, but coordinates and output dimensions refer to source-image pixels. An 800×450 px selection creates an 800×450 px PNG. Use the image resize tool for a separate resolution change.
Can I enter any width with a fixed ratio?
The ratio must be exact in whole pixels. For 16:9, use widths in multiples of 16 and heights in multiples of 9. Changing one valid dimension calculates the other. Very small images may not fit even one whole-pixel unit of a selected ratio.
Can I crop using only the keyboard?
Yes. Enter X, Y, width and height numerically. When the selection area is focused, arrows move it by 1 px or 10 px with Shift, staying inside the source bounds. Escape ends an active drag.
Does cropping overwrite the original?
No. A new PNG is downloaded. Loading another image or changing the selection invalidates the previous result and download. Create PNG again to export the updated settings.
What happens to transparency, animation and metadata?
PNG output supports transparency in the selected area. Only static PNG, JPEG and WebP inputs are accepted; animation is unsupported. The browser-decoded orientation and colors are redrawn, so original EXIF metadata and byte-for-byte file identity are not preserved.
What input and output limits apply?
Input is limited to 20 MiB, 20 million pixels total and 8,192 px per side. The crop must be at least 1×1 px and lie within the source. PNG output may be larger than a JPEG original, and limited mobile memory may prevent processing large images.
Privacy
Files and results are processed in browser memory. This tool does not send images, filenames, coordinates or settings to a server or analytics service. It downloads a new PNG without overwriting the original. Clearing, reloading or leaving the page clears the working state. Site-wide advertising and analytics may operate separately.
